Ghamro hired a special Doctor for Paapa Yankson – Bandex

Frist Vice Chairman of the Board of the Ghana Music Rights organization (GHAMRO), Ahmed Bandah popularly known as Bandex has disclosed that the organization hired a special medical doctor to attend to the late highlife legend Paapa Yankson.

Son of the late hilife highlife musician, Silas Yankson told an Accra based radio station that his father was abandoned during his latter days and no one visited him on his sick bed.

The 78-year-old highlife legend died in his Accra home on Friday, July 21.

But speaking to Da Onecharles on Otec fm’s Anokyekrom, Bandex disclosed that Ghamro apart from footing the medical bills of Paapa Yankson, hired a special doctor to monitor and administer medication to him.

”We at Ghamro paid this special doctor and not Silas yankson, he also on many occassions came to us with his fathers medical bills for cash to settle…. He knows we assigned a doctor for his father with whom he (Silas Yankson) shared reports about his father’s recovery process”.

Mr Ahmed Bandah noted that even if the assistance given to his father failed to meet his expectation, it would be improper for Silas Yankson to claim that the highlife legend was abandoned, because Ghamro has been supportive of the musician ever since he fell ill.

He however advised Ghanaians to insure themselves against critical illnesses to stay covered throughout the period and prevent a situation where one would have to sell belongings to survive.
