Replacing me with Kwarasey disrespectful – Kingson

Former Black Stars goalkeeper, Richard ‘Olele’ Kingson, has revealed that he felt disrespected when his position as Ghana’s number 1 was given to Ghanaian Norway- born shot stopper Adam Kwarasey.

According to the current national team goalkeepers’ trainer, ex-Black Stars coach Goran Stevanovic chose Kwarasey ahead of him in Ghana’s preparation for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon, Equatorial Guinea.

The status quo remained even after coaches, Kwesi Appiah and Avram Grant took over the helm of affairs of the Black Stars, leading to the retirement of Kingson.

Five years down the lane ‘Olele’, as Kingson is affectionately called, insisted he found the procedure used by the Serbian coach very disrespectful.

“At that moment when I heard I had been changed, I felt disrespected, because if anything I should have been informed because I was prepared for the tournament and you don’t wait for the last minute. I am not saying I am the only goalkeeper, but I should have been properly informed”, Kingson told starr fm.

“Since then I accepted the decision and advised myself, but this taught me a huge lesson on how to deal with people,” he added.
